The Yatsugatake Kogen holds a number of river sources and springs spread between 800 and 1,300 metres altitude, which have been selected in "100 excellent waters of Japan" and "100 Heisei excellent waters". We invite you to travel and experience the tastes and techniques of the food created by traditional everyday living, and the hot and cold springs of this rare naturalenvironment in Japan.
"Yatsugatake Soba" is made with buckwheat grown in such an environment. The soil is suited to grow buckwheat and soba making has traditionally been very popular. Soba chefs who seek the real thing have gathered here to express their originalities. You can try differences in flavour and you may find your own special one.
Also, onsen (hot springs) in this area have various qualities of water caused by the Fossa Magna. You can experience the different characteristics in each onsen in this area, simple hot springs, ones with unique mineral components such as sodium chloride and hydrogen carbonate, even one with one of the highest radium contents in the world!
